One important thing to remember is that Mahler despised these nicknames given to his symphonies. He was strongly opposed to programs superimposed on his music, even though he was guilty of alluding to a program for his Symphonies 1 and 3, and very loosely for the last movement of 6.

Too easy? Of course this is too easy for Nagasawa, he is the Mahler expert. No one gets in between Nagasawa and his Mahler, except for maybe Charlie Ives of course.
