So I walk into Staples today and decide to take a peek at what they have in tablets, just cuz I'm curious like that, and what do I see? A NEXUS 7!

... THE FUCK IS THIS?! It's already out in retail (mind you, they were sold out, only the display model was in-store) but my pre-order, placed on June 27th, still hasn't even shipped?! WHAT. THE. HELL.

I ran across a Nexus 7 discussion group on Google+ where people were raking Google over the coals for this. They have a legitimate point. If I pre-order it, I expect to get it either before or on the day of retail availability. Otherwise, why even offer it as a pre-order offer direct from Google?

But, it doesn't surprise me that Google botched another thing up. It seems that "customer service" is the last thing they think of in all of their direct-to-public product offerings.

Yes, but you'd think they'd have learned this lesson after the G1. Apparently, these geeks are terrible at learning from past mistakes.

Exactly. And while in the grand scheme of things Google's pre-order debacle isn't particularly important/vital to my life in any way (#firstworldproblems), it still remains irritating in terms of principle.

I think there's an issue with a company, a very successful one at that, that does not seem to have any accountability beyond their shareholders.

I'm holding out on one til the ipad mini comes out. I dont have any idevice yet and waiting to see what apple does next with the iphone 5 and ipad mini. plus, my current contract is up next month along with my phone upgrade.

After playing with my new Nexus 7 for a few days now I have reached the following verdict: This is how an Android tablet should be! Fast and smooth performance, nice crisp screen, just a better user experience more in line with the iPad's.

If you're thinking about getting a tablet, make it the N7 if you're not into the iPad.
