Best Beer?

is it me or are the majority of beers made in england, scotland and ireland as well as most of europe.....bland....uneventful and disappointing?

i am not talking about belgian ales here ...

i like belgians a lot too but when you have tried a lot of them you eventually find a few that are not up to snuff...but still....i will take a subpar belgian over a newcastle asswater any day...

I don't like a lot of English beers. Newcastle is alright, not great. Boddington's is gross, few others like that I guess. You like a like of stuff I can't even even drink, tho. I'd rather drink that stuff than barleywines and triple IPA's.

i am not a fan of barleywines or nontuple ipa's...but imperial ipa's and below sure...

newcastle is not alright....you have just been conditioned to think it is..it was around before decent beer actually took hold ..and it was non offensive to the palate...it is extremely plain with almost zero taste..in my opine.....

I've only had Newcastle a few times, it didn't stand out as bad, so that's "alright" to me.

I usually don't like Octoberfests, but I had a good one the other day at that tasting...I think it was Erdinger. Shit, can't remember. I wanna get it.

you cannot really fuck with erdinger brews..they never disappoint...as far as german beers go...

yeah i do like the hoppy stuff but sometimes it goes too far..where the hops overwhelm everything else..the sdame for real real hot sauce.....ruins it....

i cannot say i like barleywine..too sweet for me..but i like bigfoot brewery...

It's confirmed that Erdinger is the best Oktoberfest (that I've had).

I like Saisons. Yards makes a good one too.

Wait, Bigfoot is Sierra Nevada's barleywine. I guess I misunderstood you before, I've never seen Bigfoot Brewery around here.
