bear republic crazy ivan - a mix between red rocket and racer 5 - on tap
they use a belgian yeast strain with this during fermentation that mellows out the hops and really adds little sweetness....mildly musty hops on the nose, ...fruity hops...well blanaced with malt.....ends with hops in the back of the throat - 7.5 to 8% stone sublimely righteous black ipa - on tap the nose on this is crazy piney - 8.7%....wonderful effervescent hops - like an imperial ipa..toasted chocolate malts and deep bakers chocolate...i recommend HIGHLY! on tap now and in bottles!

You know this morning I had a brief whiff of horse barn and fresh horse urine on newly mown hay and instantly wanted an Avery 15th anniversary farmhouse ale. I think I'll drink one tonight.

yeah..it is a sam adams product so of course it is made well and all of that stuff..i have never been too much of a fan of winter beers that had no or almost no hop character to them...they just seem like failed attempts at belgian ales.....

I just learned that Midwest Supplies (homebrew shop in St. Louis Park) has a Furious clone brew kit! Might be the thing to get me to brew my next batch of beer.
