is anyone going to see tindersticks at the henry fonda theatre tomorrow? i don't think i can stomach/afford paying twenty five bucks for a ticket--esp for such a larger venue. i liked them a hellova lot better at bimbo's (w/ the floor turned into small tables to sit at) versus the fillmore, and it probably was due to venue size. but then again i haven't seen them in maybe seven years.... what if they don't come back again?

there's also this weekend:

http://www.dontknocktherock.com/
http://www.dontknocktherock.com/fullschedule.html

a LOT going on there.

um i haven't been around the robot loungue in a while. i saw arm of roger/grandaddy w/ earlimart, built like alaska, etc., and elliott smith coming on later at the derby; that was excellent. but i expected a little more experimental weirdness from arm of roger. that was a long time ago. last band i saw in LA was alaska at spaceland when they were the artists-in-residence (i.e., free show). that was lots of fun; they're as high energy as ever. somewhere in between, i met some friends at largo (? some place on fairfax where you can eat mediocre pasta in exchange for being able to sit down ?) to see jude. was out of town and missed the kinks tribute, deerhoof, etc. hopefully there'll be more shows to see soon.

Sonic Youth is worth 25 bucks. Who else is playing, though?

So what did folks think of Bjork lastnight? We saw Margaret Cho there.

I had much higher expectations for the show, and ended up a bit disappointed. I thought the fireworks were really corny.

I heard she was really good and the light show was a nice touch. She apparently sports a haircut like the kid from about a boy now.
I went to see albatross soviet and babyland at spaceland last night and all three bands rocked!!! hardcore, synthpop then industrial all different but all 3 were really good.

erase errata and neil hagerty were tiight and sonic youth did one of the best sets I have ever heard!

another plus: friends forever showed up outside the el-rey so I was able to catch some of their craziness in the smoking section in between erase errata and dead meadow!

saw the nortec collective and kronos quartet last week, at downtown l.a.'s watercourt. a great pairing, part of the latin alternative music conference. and i saw blonde redhead at boo hooray prior to this as well. someone yelled "rocks off" at them. do they really play "rocks off?"

Brujeria's never played a show before? Or just never a show in the US? They're South American, aren't they?
