right it's all rough, solo and live - a couple basses, shure mic, roland v-bass, a DocRythm770, roland v-drums (TDW-1), a VSX880 and a cheapie copy of sound forge. jsut spitting out concepts.

but we're getting a lot more soon, from a proper sequencer setup on the PC with a keyboard, to a zillion plugins for a full version of sound forge, to more musicians, to some trumpets and an amazing array of eastern string and hand percussion instruments (along with a semi-master of them =).

we will have full digital video production capabilties as well, from high-end after effects abilities, to macs with final cut pro, to PCs with maya (3D) on them.

the studio is getting rather fun.

OneManBand- i need to get quicktime 6 to check your stuff out, so i'll peep it out eventually. i like the look and custom skins, you got an eye for design.

schmee- you have a good sound and it sounds like you all have some chemistry but to me it sounds a lil predictable and a bit formulaic. i hear some medeski martin and wood in there and also a heavy funk vibe with fresh drums which im feeling but after checking out your songs i get a bit bored.
you sound fine but it's nothing i haven't heard before, which is seemingly impossible to do considering the history of music, tho considering the instrumentation and technology you guys have i think you could flip your style further to make it more flavorful.

akuma, thanks for your ears. great feedback.

you'll be happy to know that these are just proofs, not completed songs. these are live jams trying to create different textures, working on etablishing the very things you mention (drums) - we're trying to find a unique orchestration and draw on more musical principles than sequenced, since we're going to have a lot of real musicians involved on many instruments.

we will be developing them out with some real structure based on the feedback we get, and will soon have much better recording/development situation as i describe above, so the hope is to get closer to what you describe once we get the studio set up again in feb.

thanks again for the great feedback.

I use Reason, it's a great program because it's a mac and pc compatible but it doesn't have any recording capabilities. Just bought Cubebase we will see if I can add my cheesy vocals. but the most popular seems to be protools.

hardware:
novation k-synth
turntables
G4

software:
muzys
battery
reason
pro-tools
sonicworx artist
peak

i just got muzy's and it's a very powerful and intuitive program
http://muzys.com/

if you want drums that really POP check out battery- you can make some tasty breaks with it. im just getting into it now and am really enjoying the sounds and options you have, http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=battery_us

my $.02 about reason: a very easy-to-learn and fun program that'll have you turning out rhythms in a short time but it's sound quality (texture/depth/weight) cant really compare to the more powerful and professional sounding programs like protools/cubase/logic/etc i like to flip some shit in reason and then import the mixed down files into other programs where i can make the sound more full without clipping and distortion. i had trouble getting clean & heavy bass with reason - thats why i got my k-synth which is an amazing piece of hardware.

k-synth have to check it out. yeah reason seems to be a good program to start with. I'm just getting into it myself. Not a pro or anything just having some fun thats all. Too bad protools is so expensive.

i read a nice review of the Synthetic Drums sample library for Battery. have you tried that one?

how is muzys different than other software studios like Logic or Cubase?

i use whatever i can get a hold of.. lately i have been more and more impressed with Ableton's Live! software.

and i always love the analog synth sound from my Sequential Circuits Six-Track.

i havent tried that sample library cause the program comes with a 500mb bank of it's own chock full o' super fresh samples.

and muzys is just diff, from the way it imports samples/noises-it automatically breaks it up into scales and then you can flip it in a number of ways, like analyze samples for similar peaks of volume and then break the sample up and form diff breaks (called 'programs') based from the pattern of peaked noises. thats just one of the small features, it's a super cheap ($125) program made by these 4 dudes in denmark. it's a bit intimidating at first and am just scratching the surface.

here's a lil something i put together her touch

(for *****)
