i can kinda see where you're going with candy but it's not there... it doesnt really depart from that dissonant flow or at least fluctuate. it's not bad, but it bothers me b/c it starts off and stays that way while bringing diff sounds come in & out. and that can work but it usually takes a much catchier and funkier hook to pull it off.
headaches is much better in there being a cohesive intro and body which have some real nice melodic themes going on. but the big problem i have with it is that it just stays with those high hats and light percussion- it never drops and rolls out with a fat kick & snare.

yeah, the first one i just started last night after drinking coffee at 1 am, which is always a mistake.. i've only spent a few hrs on it...
the other one i agree, i only had a little bit to work with at the time i was making it, drum wise (i needed some hiphop kicks and snares to give it some body) and am planning to redo the drums when i can..

>> the epitome (mp3)
[image]http://www.schmee.biz/backdoor/timeandbass/lilback-te.jpg[/image] sadness slides silly over fields of fear and the girls take your name while you sip down cheap beer "just fill out the form", another hundred down another endentured servant one more of Barnum's found chewing Fries of Freedom cries the crowd "we need 'em" roars the crunch of patriotic and a touch of the psychotic and the broken ego of an age long ago and exactly what it is that we really don't know where we didn't want to see the cost of industry the cost for you and me and how really we're not so free so take down the old girl maybe cut her at the knee that's because in this nation's epitome the freedom is free, ... free of history ain't no visibility just divisibility in the pain of retribution and the cost for all the toys lies the broken Ego of boys being boys and the broken ego of an age long ago and exactly what it is that we really don't know where we didn't want to see the cost of industry the cost for you and me and how really we're not so free just slurping fear beer and crunching Freedom Fries and counting the reciepts in the epitome of lies

Hey Akuma (and others) - any of you releasing stuff? I'm reviewing downtempo tunes for Urb now, and'd love to give you some props.

music reviewer at urb, nice one bee!
i would release my beats if some label wanted to... but aside from posting here and rocking them for my friends i really dont get my stuff out. im not a marketer. i'll be happy to send you a cd though. and im in the process of putting out an album (including above joint) aimed at criticizing and exposing the bush regimine for what it really is. i have a shitload of bush audio that i need to lace on the beats and then master the tracks. i'm gonna need some help getting it out, so i'll be in touch.

Nice set of coincidences - was out in Amsterdam in November reporting on the High Times Cannabis Cup for The Face... bumped into a photographer dude who was hoping to sell his pics to Urb... he said I should write it up for them and send the text in with his images... they liked it, and I ended up doing a few more things... turns out the overall reviews editor is an old friend of my boss at another UK magazine... couple of months later their downbeat reviewer left, and she asks me if i'll do it, cos i've done a fair bit of work on trip-hop / dub / lo'n'slo shit in the past. I've done a couple of months' worth, but they work quite a way in advance, so my first page will appear next month.
