wow, geeze that's a lot for a charger. Personally, i've never liked FI conversions on NA engines much. With the supercharger comes some headaches:

engine management: nothing short of full control of Air/Fuel, timing, boost control (though, i guess with an SC it's moot), will do. Because detonation becomes very real with way leaned out FI'd chambers, i wouldn't run boost without it. For a VW, i'm not sure what systems you could run, but it'd be a must.

upgraded fuel delivery: injectors, Fuel pressure regulator, rail, pumps. not the most difficult thing to upgrade, but with the blower, you'd probably need it to tune A/F to the right trim.

new drivetrain: well, new clutch basically, that can handle that kind of power output. something in a kevlar sounds about right!

personally, i'd like to see a nice NA build on that engine. Cams, I/H/E, Port n Polish, and some A/F tuning. I bet you could get a reliable 30-40 ponies out of that, which would make it pretty damn fun. FI conversions are always much more high maintenance, and it becomes necessary to fix your own car, to prevent the costs from burying you. Also, expect to never get anything fixed under warranty again!!!

bah, they (I) just know how to suck the fun out of everything!

have you looked into suspensions yet, AS? i think the bilstein pss9 may be calling your name! (or at least a nice neuspeed 27mm rear sway bar)

Yes, I am very sure. It's mentioned here.

In addition to that news, Honda has announced a V-6 Accord hybrid is on the way as well.

So, I'm not mistaken and I'm not makin' it up.

I'm a really friendly driver, it's weird. I think it was the accident I had last year.

charlos - i agree with everything you said... the whole port n polish, lighthened flywheel, cams, milltek exhaust.

The question is do I do 'The Mod' or not. I guess in Germany there's a noise polution law so the R32 has this flapper over the exhaust that lifts at 4000 RPM. Anything below that and it stays down to make the car quieter. And there is a definite sound difference. There's also a loss of about 4hp with the flapper closed. So what people have been doing is simply popping the vacuum tube off and sticking a screw in it which keeps the flapper open at all times. I dunno if I want the loudness though...

hmm, life with my obnoxiously loud JDM exhaust hasn't been that bad, i guess. At first it was a little annoying, but now i hardly notice it. I can't imagine that this mod would make the R32 as loud as my rice rocket though.

i fear it gets worse once i get that high flowing header and a 2.5" cat, though. As long as the cops aren't harassing me, i guess it's ok. 4whp is a decent amount of power, imo it'd be worth it if you feel like you want some more, though i wonder where in the powerband you'd see it...

you get the extra kick in the low end because that's when the flapper is normally down.

I met a guy this weekend who had spliced a fish tank valve into the vacuum line - it's like a T-connector with a rotating door thing that you can turn to open or close - so that way you just reach under the car to set it depending on the situation. Other people have installed switches inside their cars but that's way too complicated for me.

Anyone caught that new Nelly video for "Flap Your Wings"? He's driving a Dodge Magnum wagon in the video.

I think that's the Competition wheel.
I used to have a Champion, I miss that thing. Too bad I have airbags now or that would be one of the first things I would change.
