I don't know the man, but it just seemed like a knife-in-the-back.
well, after Grindhouse tanked in the US there were no immediate plans to release them as a double feature in Europe, hence the separate promotion.

all of tarantino's films are an "homage" to something. in other words, he steals the best parts of his favorite films and creates something slightly different. rodriguez did his own homage to george romero and john carpenter, I just thought his was better than quentin's.

You keep waiting for any redeeming moment whatsoever, but it never comes, and they get every single character completely wrong. It was ridiculous.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. I kept hoping that maybe the CGI effects for Galactus would at least be awesome. But, they didn't even show him! Rubbish!

Circuit City has a blu-ray set up running this thing and it looks completely different than what I saw previously. It's very much akin to holding a foil embossed edition of one crappy ass comic.

i was pretty gripped. wasn't expecting the horror twist and i probably could have done without the cheesey ending of the guy staring into the light... but what are you gonna do.

If you look at it from a artist aspect its awesome especially the way at the beginning everything has a slight blur but it eventually clears up to a nice sharpness. Its a very slow burn of a movie so I'll caution you to go see it when you are able to give it full attention, and can think. The first time I made the mistake of going while tired so I missed a bunch, The second made me think it was well worth it.

Would've been better if Tarantino trimmed some of the fat. You know, maybe 15 or 30 minutes and hitched it up with another film for a double feature... yeah, that's the ticket.

1408: 6.5
Surprisingly watchable.

30 Days of Night - 7

Watched it from the point of view of a graphic novel fan. I wanted to see how it translated in the big screen. It was a good film to check out if you had time to kill.

I did have to turn off that switch at the back of my mind that kept asking this: "Why didn't the feds start wondering after just a few days why there wasn't anything coming out of Barrow...no email, phone, etc messages?" You'd think that in the age of capitalism and the oil pipeline (with Bush/Cheney at the helm), the gov't would be more protective of those resources.
