Anyone watched "Eden of the East"? I trying to decide if I want to take the plunge (in terms of time comittment or not). I haven't watched an episode of it yet.

I watched the first episode, and enjoyed it.

THORanime has a great BD 1080p torrent of the entire series.

Go for it. The director for this series also did Ghost In The Shell: SAC.

Finished "Eden of the East" last night (via Netflix Instant). I really enjoyed it. But, once again, an anime series that comes to a seemingly abrupt end. Anyone know if a second season is planned? It seems ripe for another season.

There were 2 movies released in Japan, first one in November 2009 and the second in April 2010. The first movie, King of the East, was released on dvd in the US last month by Funimation. King of the East's action takes place I think 6 months after the events in the series. It also ends aburptly. The second movie, Paradise Lost, hasn't been released in the US yet. There was a "prequel" called Air Communication which is just a feature length re-cap of the series with commentary by the Eden of the East Project characters. It was included in the US dvd release of King of the East. Yeah, yeah, I are pathetic.

I watched Akira last week. I finally have a copy. I thought the final clash between Kaneda and Tetsuo lasted much longer. I'll probably be considered a blasphemer but the movie gets bogged down in the middle for me. But I understand there's a lot of threads to the entire story that can only get shown in cursory ways. If that live action Hollywood remake ever gets made, I pity the people who watch that and never seek out this. Trying to imagine any of those actors listed in the "Live Action Akira" thread wearing Kaneda's red motorcycle gear just makes me laugh and laugh.

There isn't anything worth watching right now. Well, anime X-Men has been pretty good.

I consider Akira a masterpiece, but I agree with you on the above point.

I've been watching Durarara!! It's one of those shows where at first the characters seem coincidentally acquainted but as the episodes play out their connections become more entwined. The dub's on Adult Swim and sub's on crunchyroll.

I got to see the first 4 episodes of Tiger & Bunny, an entertaining spin on the superhero show. I didn't know this when I watched those episodes but it's streaming on hulu.

The Freedom OVA was pretty good. Sci-fi story. Original character and mecha designs by Katsuhiro Otomo. Doomed cities on the Moon. Also Nissin Cup Noodles product placement.

I like how the characters and situations all seem arbitrary in the beginning. It's something like what was done with Paranoia Agent as well.

Right now, it's amazing to follow the last set of episodes for Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Twists, turns, character deaths, etc. It's great to watch it on Adult Swim each week and I wouldn't see it any other way. It personally keeps me interested with what's up.

I've avoided FMA: Brotherhood thus far. I take it that it's different enough from the first FMA that I should watch it?

I loved the first FMA, FWIW.

I thiiiiink it follows the Manga closer. The original FMA deviated heavily from the Manga once it caught up.

Edit: Yep. Brotherhood follows the Manga. You should watch it.
