Pretty good Funimation sale over at Amazon.com. 50% off select BD and DVD titles:

http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&x=6&...reative=390957

I'm really tempted by the Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 on BD. But, I can't say I'm a big enough fan at this point to warrant owning them for repeated viewing.

I watched Eden of the East: Paradise Lost. I've been thinking alot about the movie's and the series' take on youthful zeal exploited and/or dissipated by the institutions that modern society has in place. Overall I thought Kenji Kamiyama handled the characters and situations in a fairly realistic way. Not to ignore the more whimsical aspects. It's interesting to compare the events of the "Arab Spring" and what happens in this series. But I'm not naive enough to think that any paradigm shift and restructing of any society would lack troubling consequences or that the time needed would be so easily defined. Or I'm just talking out my ass like I often do.

I watched most of Super Dimension Fortress Macross aka Robotech. This was my gateway drug. I'd catch it weekday mornings before middle school. It's funny that the events start in 2009 running through January 2012 (according to the liner notes that come with ADV's dvd collection.) I'm more sympathetic to Minmei now than I ever was as a 12 year old.

I also watched Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society. The production is so gorgeous. I'd get caught up in the reflections in the building windows, the contrast between shadowed and lit areas, etc.

So what's a good series to follow up Macross? My sis is feeling that slump you get into after finishing a series.

Be sure to look for the homages/parallels from Macross: DYRL in Macross Frontier. For the old fanboy in me, I liked them a lot.

What a coincidence, I started re-watching this too. I still like Vash's description of himself: "I am a hunter of peace chasing the elusive mayfly of love." Or some such.

wow... just started watching "fatezero"

pretty epic, so much action. its like a cross between jojo's bizarre adventure and full metal alchemist.

http://www.1channel.ch/tv-2728255-FateZero

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGYoV...eature=related

Fate/zero takes place 10 years prior to the events of Fate/stay night, detailing the events of the 4th Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City.[1] The War of the Holy Grail is a contest in which seven magi summon seven Heroic Spirits to compete to obtain the power of the "Holy Grail," which grants a miracle. After three inconclusive wars for the elusive Holy Grail, the Fourth War commences.

Founded by the Einzbern, Matō, and Tōsaka families centuries ago, the Einzbern family is determined to achieve success after three successive failures, no matter the cost. As a result, they have elected to bring the hated magus killer, Kiritsugu Emiya, into their ranks, despite his methods and reputation as a skilled mercenary and a hitman who employs whatever he can use to accomplish his goals. Though Kiritsugu had once wanted to become a hero who could save everyone, he has long since abandoned this ideal upon realizing that saving one person comes at the cost of another's life. For the sake of humanity, he will ruthlessly destroy anything and anyone who threatens the peace of others.

However, Kiritsugu finds himself deeply torn between the love he has found for his new family - his wife Irisviel and their daughter Illya - and what he must do to obtain the Holy Grail. Meanwhile, Kiritsugu's greatest opponent appears in the form of Kirei Kotomine, a priest who cannot find any sense of fulfillment in his life and sets his sights on Kiritsugu as the possible answer to the emptiness he feels.
