After fearing that I might never get to see the final few episodes from the first season of "Black Lagoon", I received disc 3 in the mail from Netflix the other day. I've avoided watching season 2 and now I can finally proceed!

Also, watched "Redline" recently. Visually stunning but the story made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I'll be watching it again. Maybe it will make more sense to me the second time around.

I'm currently watching the original Gundam Universal Century trilogy (MS Gundam, Gundam Zeta, and Gundam ZZ) plus the movie that ends it "Char's Counterattack".

I finished "MS Gundam" recently, and I am up to episode 5 of "Zeta". I have to say, "Macross" is definitely my anime space opera of choice. While Gundam is epic in scope, I find a lot of the characters to be annoying. Maybe it's me getting old, but I just can't stand whiny/angsty main characters anymore. I screamed "ACT LIKE A MAN!" at Amuro Ray at least 4 times every episode.

After Gundam, I'm going to move onto "Fang of the Sun: Dougram" for more retro anime viewing.

I've seen Char's Counterattack. But apart from the odd Gundam Z, MS Gundam, and Gundam SEED episodes, I've never gotten into the Gundam-verse.

However, speaking of whiny/angsty main characters, I finally watched You Can(Not) Advance 2.22 which I liked much better than You Are (Not) Alone 1.0. I thought the second movie added some interesting things to the Eva story. I'm curious to watch the third movie. Since there will be more Kaoru. The first and second movies just have teaser scenes.

I also watched Darker than Black Gemini of the Meteor. I did rewatch the original series first because I needed to reaquaint myself with the characters and the setting. Gemini of the Meteor only has 13 episodes plus 4 OVAs so the action scenes feel more ramped up.

I've been rewatching Planetes now. It's sort of the opposite of space opera. No alien armies, no mecha fighter pilots, no evil nemesis. But it does deal with corporate culture, first world vs. third world development, the scramble for new sources of energy, space exploration, and the pursuit of dreams at the expense of losing one's sense of humanity. I'm missing some episodes of Trigun so I'll have to look for them online.

Has anyone watched any Blue Exorist? Or the new Last Exile series?

I've been watching "Last Exile: Fam the Silver Wing" via Hulu. They've been streaming the subbed version so that's been nice. I've been enjoying it so far. Though, I haven't figured out how the first series relates to the second. I haven't bothered looking it up either.

I tried watching Planetes but didn't get very far. But, then again, I was streaming it from some sketchy anime stream site and had a hard time watching such a tiny image (relatively speaking). I'll have to revisit it.

I really loved 1.11 and 2.22 but I would agree that 2.22 was the better. Any word on when we can expect 3.xx?

Finished up "Last Exile: Fam the Silver Wing" last night. Not a bad series. I thought it got a tad too cornball at the end. But, that's just me.

Lupin III – Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna

In a word, "excellent". Best anime I've seen in a long while. And it has titties, lots of titties.

^I was going to ask "Green or red jacket?" but I watched a trailer.
Not on the same level as Lupin but I've been watching Buso Renkin. However in April I did get the chance to watch Porco Rosso at the Freer Gallery in DC. I loved getting to see it on a big screen with an audience. Plus Helen McCarthy introduced the film which was part of a marathon of Miyazaki films.

Wrong thread but the AFI Silver Theatre is doing this series until next weekend:

Finished season 1 and working on season 2 of "Yuru Yuri", which is about a bunch of middle school girls who also happen to be lesbians. A really silly, funny, moe series.

Oh yeah, there's also rape.

Who doesn't enjoy a little rape?
