I got my sister the HTC One S as well and she loves it.
The continuous shot is great for pets and kids.

If you don't like Sense UI, why not just use custom launchers and what not?

Before I flashed a custom ROM, I was using Nova Launcher over the Sense UI.

I suppose what I'm ultimately looking for is an optimized OS with ICS theming.

Hopped in the car this morning and went to plug my phone in. For whatever reason, it refuses to go into charging mode in the car. Does it just fine plugged into my laptop or the wall in the office.

I'll try on the USB port on the car charger. Otherwise, this is not good. Looks like I might have to replace my VZW DInc earlier than planned.

Before anyone else says it, the Samsung GS3 is out. I need a device I can carry in my pocket and that monster is most likely not it. Having said that, I might go with the Galaxy Nexus just to have a straight Android device. It will probably depend on whether I can handle one that isn't tethered to a security device at the store so I can see how it fits in my pocket.

Other potential option is the Rezound (since it's expected to get ICS and get VZW "global" status unlocked).

I'm hoping that I can get this to charge in the car again, though. I was hoping to wait to see what the DInc 4G LTE looked like when it comes out and possibly even waiting to see what the next iPhone looks like later in the Fall.

Not interested in any of the Moto devices.

Yay! It's just the cable for the charger in my car. USB port on it works just fine. Now I can definitely wait!

Yeah, I saw that. I'm glad I can wait it out, though. I'm still tempted by the Nexus just for the vanilla Android experience. I thought the VZW one was a global device but appears it's not. The SIM card in it is for LTE service only.

The Rezound is getting ICS and an update that will convert it to a VZW global device. But, from what I've read, it wasn't that great a device to begin with.

I'm going to do my best to wait until the next iPhone gets announced.

Stick with the Nexus. The Google-supported OS is definitely the way to go.

I was paging through the latest Costco deals/coupon mailer thing. It said the prices/coupons are good starting July 12th. I noticed that they listed the DROID Incredible 4G LTE in it. $149 after $50 MIR on qualified 2-year activations or renewals.

interesting. looks like ATT lowered the price on no commitment smartphones. $550 for SGS3, Lumia 900, HTC X.

i wonder if they'll give the unlock codes too.

Oops. I never posted here, did I...

I ended up getting the VZW Galaxy Nexus this past Tues. I went into a VZW store and asked if they had one that I could handle to see how it would fit into a pocket. God forbid that they go in back and bring out a box for a brand new one. The guy rummaged through a drawer looking for one of their dummy phones. Whatever.

I'm really happy with it so far. Though, I had gotten used to some of the "magic" things that HTC did through their apps and Sense UI (like the ability to link FB contacts with Exchange contacts so that contacts have an avatar or image of one kind or another). Plus, since I'm coming from Gingerbread, I've been getting used to ICS.

Hoping Google (and/or VZW) will push out Jelly Bean in the next few weeks, too.
