Yeah, Heavy Rain looks great. A few hours into Fallout 3 and I've cleaned up Springvale School of Raiders and just picked up my new buddy, Dogmeat. My pistol skills could really use some work, though.

this right here. the trailers make it look great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKPPdgBK3r8

it looks a little like Seven, Law & Order and Silent Hill. very atmospheric. also i'm pretty sure they modeled the female protagonist after mariska hargitay. hot.

speaking of Fallout 3, has anybody played Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl?

I'm trying to find some time this morning to read through GI's review of Heavy Rain. But, in all likelihood, this will get me to buy a PS3, I bet.

My wife will (not) love me for this. Ha! Actually, this is a game that she would really enjoy watching me play, I bet.

Going to play the Heavy Rain demo when I get home from work tonight.

I never used Dogmeat. I just sent him home to Vault 101. It was just to much trouble keeping him alive.

I'm going to try to keep him around just for a level or so, just so I can bump my handgun skill. Sometimes it takes me forever to bring down the odd Raider. Is there a way to bump your critical hit rate?

Using V.A.T.S. and having a lot of points in Luck increases your critical chance. So basically, you want to pump points into Agility (to have more actions points to use in V.A.T.S.) and Luck.

There's also PERKs that you should bump up too to improve some of that stuff.

Lots of helpful info over at the Fallout wiki, too. This link goes straight to the Fallout 3 stuff. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout_3

Definitely look at the stuff on Perks and Skills.

The unique weapons have invaluable increases to critical rate as well. I can't imagine that it'd be so necessary in killing the raiders unless you've just started. Raiders are dumb, so all you really need to do is shoot from a distance and hide until the caution marker comes up and then watch where they're going in 3rd person and act accordingly. That means more than one chance to hit critical. If Danger isn't blinking they don't really know where you are, they just have an idea of which general direction the shot/grenade came from. Guns that fire more than 1 shot per Vats action are also very good if it's critical hits you want, because every bullet within the first action comes up critical where as if you use a pistol only the first shot/action will work.

This probably makes no sense.

I love this game. Replaying fallout 1 right now. It's so much harder than 3.

After reading all the hype about DA:O, I just picked it up for the Mac. Amazing game! I love the replay value of it.

How is it on the Mac? What h/w are you playing it on?

I was glad when I read that EA and BioWare were putting out a Mac-native version.

I've been playing Spelunky and some stuff on MAME lately, old school game phase.

That's a video of a 5 year old reviewing the game I made. It's kind of unstoppable in a devastatingly cute way.

I'm running the last gen 2.5ghz MBP (non-alu unibody version) @ 1900x1280, med quality on my 26" LCD display and its not bad. It slows down a bit when too many mobs are on the screen, but its not too bad. I'm like at level 9 with my dwarf tanker and just completed the Redcliff event.
