Grabbed that new Chrome Waves album off Amazon's digital store. It's one of the few places where I can use these otherwise useless Visa Debit rebate cards.

Well now...it's a pleasant surprise to hear that there's a new Testament album. The best part is that Gene Hoglan is on beat duty for this collection of head bangers.

With Alex Skolnick on lead guitar and Gene on drums, it's enough for me to give this a listen on Spotify if it's worth owning.

Do they sound even more post-punk now than ever?

I read somewhere that the next Alcest album will not even be close to the realm of metal. I'm intrigued.

Why wasn't Exodus mentioned? Not that Toxic Waltz crap, but Bonded By Blood.

This has been big news in prog metal circles since the start of the summer. Most of what was mentioned was at first conjecture until details soon got revealed.

Things really took a major turn when the band, sans Tate, revealed they'd be moving on as Rising West with Crimson Glory's vocalist. They did a couple of shows to debut the lineup at the Hard Rock here in Seattle. A lot of fans were stoked that they played a lot of older material like Walk In The Shadows and Queen of the Ryche.

Not sure if you've had a chance to hear the new Nachtmystium or not (it's on Spotify). This one is solidly back in the "black metal" neighborhood. Most reviews I've read called it a follow-up in spirit to "Instinctecay".

...And the one-man idiot parade that's Dave Mustaine is at it again.

I saw a brief mention of that on Metalsucks' twitter feed yesterday.

Dave is such a fantastic guitarist but a terrible human being.

Might go see Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel when they come to town. It's time to get in touch with the Me that sported a mullet and wore armless t-shirts anyway.
