Yeah, both have been a favorite for a while now.

Check out Dragon Force as well: http://www.dragonforce.com/

Audio should kick in shortly after loading the page.

I just got a Mercyful Fate album yesterday after I heard one of the songs in a skate video. It's fucking awesome. I so missed out by not being a metalhead in high school.

BTW, I still refuse to believe that anyone from Dennmark is evil.

anybody here listen to Cursed?

they're more on the rock n roll side of metal, but still really abrasive, kinda like a slower and less complex converge, maybe.

Man, there's just so many bands out there...sometimes I regret not being able to commit to a single genre. I only ever just skim the surface.

some guys at my old college started a death/black metal show on the school's radio station... they post mp3's of their weekly broadcasts on the website:

http://www.grindermetal.com/

it's pretty good.. and they take requests/suggestions and stuff. =)

So all the metalheads in Williamsburg are into Manowar and Metal Church. Is this the irony factor?

If Terrorizer is to be believed there's a major shift amongst metalheads worldwide from metalcore to "power metal". Don't know if it's irony or just a desire to get away from the over-seriousness of the 'core...

I love power metal as much as the next guy. In fact, I love Manowar. I just ... I dunno. I just wonder whether people earnestly like Metal Church and Exodus.

I dunno... it's got to be a bit of both really hasn't it, there's always going to be some metropolitan japesters who think it's the funniest thing in the world to wear a Helloween t-shirt, but metal is SO big outside the centres of fashion that the majority love it non-ironically.

Talking of the 'ween, they've just released Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part III! Don't know if I can bring myself to listen to it, it's a v different lineup from their glory days I think.

is the Dragonforce/Rhapsody/Manowar power metal resurgence really that big a growing trend?

i thought youth crew hardcore was going to be the next metalcore, now that metalcore has established itself as the new nu-metal.

listening to pelican - the fire in our throats will beckon the thaw right now.

pelican's decidedly non-shitty metal provide a much needed respite from my decidedly overly shitty life.

I really can't get with Power Metal. Unless you count Maiden, and that's mostly nostalgia.

I kinda respect Manowar even if I don't listen to them much. I just do.

Anybody like Cynic?

i never considered iron maiden power metal.

does power metal dictate the "wizards and dragons" lyrical content exclusively?

like, i consider anything dio touched "power metal."
