Haruki Murakami
I found a few threads in other fora, but I thought this was the best place for this.
Sorry if it's a repeat of what's in the other couple of threads, I didn't get a chance to read them all. I'll go back later and delete this if it's redundant. http://www.geocities.com/osakabe_yos...ball_1973.html It's apparently an early novel that hasn't been reissued.

I have that book. I bought it years ago because I like to play pinball. Pin-Bot, High Speed, Guns 'n' Roses at UCLA, Raji's, and the Casbah... And Superman at Eric's house.
Hm. Ebay? |

Do you have Kosinski's Pinball too? That would be just for the title though.

I have the Kodansha copy, too. I got it at a great used book store in Chicago. I think 1 of my friends had mentioned it so that's why I got it and it just sat on the shelf for years because it just seemed so bleak.. but then I finally did about 2 years ago and really liked it.
I always wondered why there's a Japanese glossary in the back. |

Osakabe has numerous never-before-translated stories, essays, etc. on that site. There are even 10 chapters of amateur translation of Murakami's forthcoming novel Kafka On the Shore. He's really nice and we've chatted many times about Murakami's work.

Please permit me to shamelessly plug my Murakami collection. It's hard to see everything since I'm doubled up on the top shelf, but I've been collecting his work since I first read Wild Sheep Chase in 1989.

Another short stack of titles I've added in the last few months. Murakami recipe books are pretty neat and are compilations of recipes either eaten or prepared by characters in his novels.
![]() Osakabe has a printable version of Pinball 1973 on his site for those who don't wish to pay $200.00+ for a copy on eBay. Last edited by nagasawa; 10-23-2008 at 09:23 PM. |
