very nice! i want the car he's driving. shit is beautiful!

my other faves are michael schumacher and dave coulthard, i haven't kept up with formula 1 in awhile though, so i don't know what they're up to.

there's also a myriad of cultural, technical, and strategical differences too, and while they're both "motorsports", it's almost like comparing bowling to baseball.

what's your friend's brother's name?
Well, I don't claim to be a fan, but as a marginal outsider - I don't really see the difference. Dudes get in cars, the guy who goes the fastest wins. Same thing. One is for the Red States, the other is for Jet Setters.

Anyhow, my friend's last name is Yanchar, not sure what her brother's first name is though...

ah, Coulthard is driving one of the redbull cars, and is having a mediocre season, Schumacher is coming off a championship season where he and ferrari absolutely dominated the field--but is struggling this year as a result of rules changes that affect his tiremaker's (bridgestone) ability to make a competitive tire. He had a great race in imola a month ago, almost winning even though he started in 13th place.

right now F. Alonso and Renault are in the points lead for the F1 championship, and Kimi Raikonen and Maclaren are making a charge, having won the last 2 races. My favorite team, BAR Honda is coming off of a bullshit 2 race suspension in time for the european GP at the famed Nurburgring Nordschlieffe.

DTM cars are pretty.

hakkinen's MBZ.

DTM Audi A4

However, i'm partial to the ALMS BMW's:

Excellent thread! Well, they still have Villeneuve and his hair.

Recently saw Nigel Mansell on Speed TV show and they played some excellent vintage footage including him nearly stuffing him and his rider in a two seater race. Remember these?

BAR, gotta love those crazy cheats...Creative thinkers...
F1 is watchable again. It was turning into the Ferrari Cup for awhile.
I'm putting money on McLaren/Kimi to win it all.

yeah kimi looks unstoppable when the car stays together.

what's bullshit about the FIA ruling is that the FIA admitted that a) button's car was never underweight at imola, b) recognized that what they did wasn't against FIA rules, c) knew about the tank since malaysia, d) know about the other teams using a similar system.

fine, strip the points from imola b/c some tech guy wasn't forthcoming or made an honest mistake about the second tank. but a 2 race suspension? after the on-site arbitrators ruled that BAR was in the clear? and then, to add insult to injury, they force them to run the same engines in germany 5 weeks later? effectively dooming BAR to a terrible performance (which they got)...

maybe i'm biased, but from my point of view, mosleyfuckball has an axe to grind with BAR, and i'm not sure why--i'm just sure how: by fucking them in the ass!

so, fuck max! go BAR!

Heh, Charlos you're taking the words right outta my mouth. Mosley & FIA really dragged BAR through the shitter then rubbed their noses in it. The potential is huge, I just hope they can get all things together and finally win some races. C'mon JB!!

This season has been a turnaround with a solid number of teams up at the top. I can't remember a race as exciting as Imola in a long time. This weekend's race was a nail biter too.

my Tivo recording of the euro GP was erased before i got to watch it

but it was no surprise to me that kimi was about to win it--he's been on fire lately, much to my chagrin (i hate mbz/maclaren) but it's a pretty scary thing when someone's suspension falls apart at speed! i'm glad he's alright.

the tire rules are ridiculous this year. maybe they're part of the reason there's parity, but i think what they need to do is get a spec tire and have all the teams use it. they can keep the 1 tire for qualif/race stipulation, but require that michelin engineer rubber that can handle that at the cost of speed--as long as all the teams are running that tire, i'd say it's fair.

this year's constructor's championship is very exciting! the drivers champ too! i think alonso's def feeling the pressure from kimi. also, what's up with JPM? seems like he's having an off year.

I got into F1 last year. It's totally amazing to watch these cars perform, especially in wet conditions. I remember during last year's Japan Grand Prix when all practice and qualying days where in the rain, the engineers do some downforce adjustments, the crew slaps on some wet weather tires and wham, the still run those things flat out. Amazing engineering.

My favorite race of the year is Monte Carlo. When they whip through the tunnel under the hotel, that's some serious speed. One of my goals in life is to make it out there to view the race... on my yacht parked in the bay along the trak of course. That would be the poop!

Juan Pablo is my main man. I'm a bit dissapointed that he's not on BMW Williams anyone. But I think he's a good fit over at McLaren. I'm liking the way Toyota's team is performing too.

The crazy thing about this year over last is Ferrari and M. Schumacher's performance. What a difference a year makes I guess...

i think schumi is still on top of his game, it's his tires that are not. we all caught a glimpse of how great he really is when he chased down alonso at imola, and alonso had to do everything just to keep from getting passed.

but yeah, bridgestone can't keep up with michelin with the new rules this year, and it shows.
