Apple's online store removed listings for the 1.8GHz, single-processor computers late last week. Apple confirmed that they were selling the last of their inventory in an effort to push an all dual-chip line-up. In a statement to News.com, Apple clarified its plans. "The 1.8 GHz Power Mac G5 is no longer available at the online Apple Store but is available in other channels while supplies last. The Power Mac G5 line is now all dual processor and delivers the ultimate in performance for our most advanced customers." With the removal of the 1.8GHz model, Apple customers can choose between the Dual 2GHz, Dual 2.3GHz and a Dual 2.7GHz. For customers still looking for a single processor G5, the computer company suggested as an alternative the iMac G5. Apple released a statement last month that the company would be transitioning away from IBM's PowerPC CPU's in favor of Intel's microprocessors. The shift to the new processors, however, will not begin until the first part of next year. Apple did not cite specific reasons for the decision.

no, i agree, i made this thread after reading your post in the intel thread and having come across the same problem, ie there not being just a general thread for discussion.. this isn't designed to replace those other threads, i just put those threads in as a kind of marker or something.
actually, i don't know why i put them in really at all.. just bored at work and wanted something to do.. sorry.

They have NECC starting on the 28th. If it's a hardware update, I'd guess iBook's up next. There've been some rumblings about a widescreen version.

Netflix is giving away free Ipod shuffles with 1 year subcriptions to netflix. 17.49 a month or something like that. Got an ad in the mail...I just may do it. Been meaning to try them out for a while and here's my excuse to :P I didnt find anything on their website so it may be a mail offer only special...check your boxes^^

Latest Mac rumor:
Apple will have a press event on/about July 7. Possible announcements: --iTunes enabled phones. --iTunes selling videos --new iPods (I wish) --new iBooks (I wish) --new Powerbook (I really, really wish) They need to announce something for the upcoming back-to-school and Holiday season. It usually takes Apple at least a month or two to ship something they announce...now's the time.
