I never cared about getting an ipod and I still don't really want one but I do find myself wishing I had an ipod nano when I run. Does that have the clip on it, where you can clip it to your collar? I saw a commercial for something like that... looks very functional.

35, I'm sure a lot of people run everyday and are fine, but I'm from the school where no matter what you let your body rest. Especially when you're above your normal weight and bearing more weight upon your joints, etc. Maybe instead of running you can take a walk on your "off" day, or concentrate on another body part or something. I could be wrong though!

^ Yeah, that's a great suggestion, walking on my "off" days. I'll just walk outside but it's still probably better. You're right, I am putting a lot of straing, probably, on my fonked up knees. No problems so far but I don't want to push it.

The good thing is that my knees feel so much better with each 5 pounds I lose. I'm hoping when I get down to 175, my knees will feel awesome.

I have always had thick legs but w/constant leg work my legs are more muscular. Also getting beat up constantly in my freestyle wrestling days helped me get a lot stronger, if not scrappier!

I'm not a fragile, petite little girl but more like a strong, broad shouldered woman that can snap you in half!

running everyday is ok if your body can handle it. when i first started running, i only ran every other day. but after a while i ran everyday, but i varied the distance and intensity each day.. for variety and to let my body recover a little. i'd recommend hiking too. it helps strengthen your leg muscles and joints, prevents potential injuries when you run.

^^also you really need to take care of your knees! Take breaks they are necessary!

I realized that I am getting older - my lower back hurts more and more! This makes my pilates class an even bigger challenge for me!

I've been thinking the same thing. Usually I just use my palm pilot in my pocket. But that tiny little thing looks pretty cool.

don't forget to stretch.

i found this book pretty informative.

it shows what should be stretched for pretty much any kind of activity you can think of.

Is there something special about "hiking" that strengthens your joints? What about running or just plain walking on the sidewalk? I'm curious. I'd really like to strengthen some joints.
