I wonder why they didn't put the touchscreen/widescreen on an ipod as well.
It seems like that would make sense. I'm not sure what their target market is for this phone. It's a little expensive for the general public. It doesn't seem to have the features for business users. So who is going to buy it? Tech geeks? Hipsters? The touchscreen and interface look awesome, they should put it on a ipod with wifi/bluetooth and sell something like that.

Ok, I watched the keynote. I'm coveting this thing. I can't believe it runs osx. That is insane! Think of the potential. So for sure I want one, but a couple things are holding me back. First, I use a Treo 650 running palm os. Palm os to me is sweet. Very stable, very solid, and I need to use a specific program for my work that runs perfectly on palm os. Also, I may want to wait for them to work out the kinks with the first release. My problem with web browsing and phones is the speed. It's still going to be slow! No matter how slick the phone is, you're still gonna sit there and wait forever for pages to load.

yeah wait for things to settle down. let the hype drop a bit and the complaints to air out. they will change things to improve it.
who's going to fix the iphone? do you take it to the apple store or cingular? some gripes are probably waiting to happen there. i think the touchscreen will lose its appeal when people start realizing that they have to finger poke the screen for every thing. big fingered folks will feel ostracized and humiliated.

try this.. go walk over to your microwave oven. push the buttons on it. this is what it will feel like when you dial on your iphone.
i have to agree with KV3, the customer service issue could be a nightmare. cell phone customers like to bitch the most. i can foresee Cingular trying to redirect/blame problems to the Apple genius bar or Apple Care. and vice versa. |

is the operating system a complete set? if it is then that's pretty cool. i can understand why its so pricey.
with pocketpcs, microsoft had to make windows mobile os. clicking on the x doesn't even close the application. there's no way they could put an entire bloated os on a pda.

Interesting. What happens if you drop the phone & the screen breaks? Then you have to work with a shattered image.
I'm sure in 3 years, we'll have more reasonably priced ($300/400) phones like this with bluetooth. |

I'm curious how this would sell in the Japanese market (for the moment ignoring how a GSM phone would be implemented/altered to work with a W-CDMA network).
