just out of curiosity, who sings that part towards the ending
of 'elevation' by zion-i? its some lady singing in chinese i think??
well im not sure....but i was hoping there was some fuller version of that part so i wouldnt have to keep repeating the last 30 seconds of it, it just sounds so....enchanting.

i'd be more than happy to know what song that is, anyone have a clue? itd be much appreciated. thanks.

Herb Alpert's "Rise"...........surprising to me at the time because Herb was notoriously known for overcharging on sample clearance, same w/ Barry White.

Alpert sold mad records back in the day, the "A" in A&M records is him.........

that is Tom Scott's "Today" off the Honeysuckle Breeze album on Impulse.

Interesting rumour going around is that Large Professor did the drum programming on the song but was uncredited.

Hmm, I also heard he produced most of Eric B & Rakim's classic tracks, Eric just being the moneyman.

Doing some research and it seems like it's on her "Take A Look" LP. It doesn't seem to be in print on CD. It's one of her earlier Columbia records so you can either try and find a compilation of her Columbia years or look for the vinyl. In general, her Columbia stuff is not as sought after as her Atlantic stuff (for good reason), but this may be a rare record.

Here's the 45 on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=2265

Also, www.downstairsrecords.com has a comp with the track. Go to "Hard to Find Songs on CD" and search for "one step ahead". You should get a result for a CD called "Collector's Headache (Volume 2)". Sorry about not providing a link but it's all frames or something.
