hey naga...i figured i would ask you here instead of texting you

what is it about japanese vinyl that is good?

is it all or most of it?

do the japanese or japanese vinyl owners usually take better care of their vinyl?

is it thicker....more expensive..where does one find it and what key words would they use on ebay other than japanese vinyl?....

is it all genres...or mostly focusing on jazz/classical?

what are you wearing?

I don't know the ins and outs of what makes Japanese vinyl so good, but they must manufacture an extremely high quality vinyl for the record pressings. I have records from the late 60s and early 70s that (while very well cared for) sound incredibly good and detailed with none of that treble roll off usually heard on moderately played records. Some of it must come down to the fine mastering that the Japanese were known for producing. Problem is, it's usually not cheap and you're unlikely to find anything on eBay that isn't priced to the moon. People know that they can put a premium on it ("w/ OBI L@@K!!!). I lucked out with the Bartok at the OC fair because some dealer had it priced $2! Very heavy, dark black, shiny. I don't think I've ever found so many nice pressings of Bartok string quartets in one place before!

Dutch vinyl is also worth checking out. Really high quality and usually found well cared for. Jazz is usually played to death so it's hard finding things in excellent condition. Classical is typically found in nice shape because those fuckers know how to handle a record.

Dungarees, gabardine button-down, new KC slip-ons, Aveda pomade.
