I'm kind of blown away by this dream casting of this movie.

I thought kenichi matsuyama was a great character as L in death note. Rinko is one of my favorite upcoming actors. I just saw the move Tran anh hung did called "I come with the rain", starring Josh hartnett (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkqvoEoya3s) I thought it was really well done. I love his moody shots and affinity for using radiohead in his soundtracks.

I like Tranh Ahn Hung (although I've only seen Scent of Green Papaya and Cyclo), but I still wonder if a movie like this can work as something other than a melodrama (and perhaps a painfully contrived one). What works on the page doesn't always transfer easily to the screen. And so much of the novel is interior that stripped of that the story could seem pretty trite.

how many of this directors films feature radiohead on the soundtrack?
