Logos

anyone ever heard of brandstack.com? not sure what to think of this site. on the one hand, it looks like a good source for designers to earn an extra income for unsold logos. on the other hand, brandstack's design criteria seems a bit sketchy. it seems you have to be approved before you can actually sell anything. this makes sense except there are quite a few approved logos that look like shit to me I've read more negative views of this site than positive.

HORRIBLE.

Really. This does no service to designers. Stay away like the plague. You don't shop for logos. and if you're selling logos, what exactly are you selling? Silly.

See crowdsourcing thread.

isn't this kind of the exact opposite of what developing a logo SHOULD be for a company and for the artist? a logo should be something intrinsically tied to the identity and goals of your company/brand/whatever. it's sort of like the bespoke suit for your company. it definitely shouldn't be "one size fits all."

this is kinda sad actually.

woh, some logos include the corresponding domain name, instant branding for 250. I'm sure agencies will reuse elements from unused comps, logos, websites etc for different clients. but this is a bit ridiculous.

I don't know. I think it can be open-ended for some. there are quite a few clever logos on brandstack and if one of them suits your new business then great. there's nothing wrong with an off-the-rack suit, it just needs to be tailored a little more to your identity. I especially like the "Mister Cutts Barber" scissors logo. it's simple, clever and could easily suit anyone getting into the haircutting business. but then again, quite a few of the logos on brandstack look like they were either ripped off of some well known brand or thrown together using free vectors.

No. To be honest, your credibility just failed for me.

I think this whole thing is very cynical; that the original intention was publicity stunt to crowdsource.

“We’ve learned a lot in this process. And we are clear that we did not go about this in the right way. We recognize that we missed the opportunity to engage with the online community. This wasn’t the right project at the right time for crowd sourcing.

“There may be a time to evolve our logo, but if and when that time comes, we’ll handle it in a different way. “

just more of the current trend where people think rebranding will save their failing company.

it's not the logo's fault people.
