He can't even pull off the leadership role convincingly. I also don't think he's thought it through about what happens when a repelling and more prepared Stark-allied force arrives to retake Winterfell.

I'm not sure how he'd also depend on his sister's fleet that much to come to his aid just in time...or even to help at all for that matter. Too many variables at play would mean Theon would barely hold on to Winterfell and would also mean disappointing his father yet again.

Felt so bad for Brann who was confused and heartbroken over Theon's betrayal. Actually, it looked like all of Winterfell seemed betrayed by what he's done.

I'm continually impressed by the scenes shot for the story north of The Wall.

Much as I've also hated Sansa, it was hard to see her almost get raped by the townspeople. Her handmaiden also better watch out. That threat Cersei gave to Tyrion oozed with so much resolve to carry it through. Dinklage's reaction as Tyrion to that remark was a master work of subtlety in acting.

Those scenes with Tywin and Arya are fantastic as well. I hope there's more of those exchanges.

Littlefinger is known to play his cards close to the vest. You don't know if he knows something or not. The way he mentioned that he wanted to talk about Ned Stark's daughters before the scene change sent a bit of a chill down the spine.

I thought so to. but I could be reading into it a bit. after doing a double take and seeing arya, he seemed a bit relieved. after all, he did lie to her mother about BOTH daughters being safe, since at the time they only knew about the whereabouts of one. and the daughters are their only bargaining tool to get the lanister kid out of jail. I love little finger, one of the best actors on the show. you never know what side he's playing.

I was a little confused at the end. I had to rewatch a couple of times. why does greyjoy look so shocked? that expression on his face seems as though he was just as surprised/disgusted as luwin.

Did you notice through the episode that for the most part, Theon was making sure his Number 2 was around when he was making grand comments and gestures? Like he said himself when they were tracking down the boys: "it's all a game."

I think shit just got real for him when he himself saw the charred bodies in the town square.


Random notes:

I totally enjoyed that awkward moment between Cersei and Tyrion.

Exchanges between Tywin and Arya...still fantastic to witness. Almost blew your cover, girl!

I guess we now know why Ygritte kept calling Jon Snow stupid. She's a fucking honey trap.


And now something from the 'Arrested Westeros' blog that made me laugh so hard yesterday before going to bed:
