understandable, he probably doesn't frequent movie sites, or sit around watching trailers and reading youtube comments all day like I do.. he may have seen a trailor for it on tv, or just decided to watch it based on that. its always more enjoyable going in, not knowing what to expect, or not comparing it to other films. I probably would have liked it more if I had not known anything about it, or thought that it would somehow connect to previous alien films.

He asked me what i thought, i was still thinking about it and went " it was ok .."

then we had a discussion about it and he hadn't realise that it was related to ALIEN ..

made me lol inside..

That's awesome. I hope I love stuff when I'm in my late 60's. We're getting pickier as we get older and mostly, I think, it's because our frame of reference has gotten so huge. We've seen it all. All the older people who seem to hate everything, it's because they've seen the previous version before, maybe even the original, so how are they going to like a copy cat? When you're a kid, you're easy to please, and everything is new. It doesn't have to be new and interesting to everybody, just to you in the end. I hope I get to see shit that blow me away when I'm in my late 60's.[/captain obvious]

^ Haha. Ugh. Getting older blows. If I were in my early 20's again, I would still be sitting on my computer posting on GRL, but I would feel like I have more time to be lazy and procrastinate.

the goo started to ooze because it had been locked up for a long period of time thousands upon thousands of years then they opened the sealed room which in the hologram was going into lock down when the engineers ran in.. shaw even says i think we changed the atmosphere in here we need to bag the head before it disintegrates.. ( the whole room had been vacuumed sealed.) plus another clue is that all the Engineers had their space helmets on in the ship in the holograms, which has to mean one or two things.. the bio warfair they were carrying would only begin to react to an atmosphere like our own which apparently they had a way to terra-form planets into livable conditions. Maybe it had to be transported on a sealed ship..

random note// i know from living in florida that the salt water that is in the air there you don't really notice.. till one day your 2nd floor condo's ac goes out. Then it takes a week to get a repair man out. When you don't have ac going the salt in the air starts clinging to the walls leaving a film on the walls, left long enough it would cause corrosion etc. i unno it made sense to me.

the decapitated head they brought back with them was carbon dated 2000 yrs, so wouldn't it follow that the goo itself is is that old as well?

That's why I hate prequels. They try to expand on ideas and themes from greater films, but end up coming off as pretentious and shallow.

Prometheus just tries to hard. Alien (1979) didn't have to try at all.
i unno really arent we as humans just these thing sthat happened to exist? really think about it.. the highly unlikely situations and mistakes the galaxy had to make to make a living planet then wait for us to crawl out of its oceans.. just a big whoopsie all together but a pretty important one. orrrr if people believe the other possibility that we all just happened to poof here and already exist i guess that might change the perspective for some. different strokes for different folks

i don't know when the goo was made i only saw the movie once.. so all my opinions is from a first time perspective. I can assume from the plot the goo was atleast as old the head because it had been in the same room with it.

has anyone looked at these yet? http://www.prometheusforum.net/discussion/1646
they are Prometheus the art o f the film high quality scans. Does anyone recognize this that is ALready carved on the walls of the tomb with the goo. yeah that looks like an alien to me.
So to me the aliens were already in existence and we got to see the method for making them.

hammerpede // actually this was the only part in the movie that irked me cause obiviously its like a snake with a hood and usually cobra's raise their hoods when they are about to strike so you would have to assume the same with an alien hooded snake right??
so why would this so called Darwinist naturalist adviser still fuck with it and talk to it like a baby??

they still vacuumed sealed the head to take it back to the ship.. to preserve it. its like that vacuum seal bags for veggies.. after you open it they will spoil. shaw realized the change and preserved the head which had been cut off .The decapitated head was on the same side of the door as the goo.

I may be pickier but my tastes are much broader. I think that helps.
