Django Unchained

For anyone that doesn't already know, "Django Unchained" is Quentin Tarantino's next film. The plot's pretty simple: a German bounty hunter and an African-American slave make a deal: the slave helps the bounty hunter find some outlaws and the bounty hunter helps the slave find his wife and gives them both their freedom. Given that it's a Tarantino film, I assume that along the way, they'll both dispense a lot of cowboy justice (read: shooting a bunch of asshole slaveowers). Plus, Leonardo DiCaprio is playing the baddie, so what's not to like?

Pretty excited about this. I just want the rush of seeing freed slaves murdering their former captors.

any of you have seen the original django movies by sergio corbucci. he's not nearly as famous as his buddy sergio leone, but his spaghetti westerns are every bit as good, possibly even darker.

*bump*

I went to go see it on Christmas Day and while I'm not disappointed, I at least got my $4 worth. The film had great performances all around (minus Tarantino's role as an Australian, who, for some reason, ends up in Mississippi), but at 2 1/2 hours, the film really seemed to drag it's feet at times. "Inglorious Basterds" was also 2 1/2 hours long, but it had a lot more tension & suspense (the basement bar scene, for example) that you didn't notice the passing of time. I don't blame the editing (his longtime editor, Sally Menke, passed away in 2010), because Tarantino is known for his really long takes of scenes (Christopher Walken's character in "Pulp Fiction" comes to mind). But somehow, I was hoping it would have been a much tighter, much more interesting film.

I haven't seen the movie or any Spike Lee quotes about the movie, but I could have told you this.

It was pretty good. Not as awesome as some of his other movies but, still, original and amusing. The plot twist near the end was straight up super retarded.

that would be too much. borrowing ideas from a genre needs to done in an incomplete manner so you can keep it more mysterious to non-fans of said genre.

If anyone would....depends on who he can get for it though, same problem for any director.
