I knew a Vietnamese guy who was a serious gun collector. He used to fight for the South Vietnamese Army and shit.

Supposedly you can kick sand in it, drip it in water, then run your car over it and then pick it up and fire...The revolutionary's arsenal...

Anybody seen those Titanium Handguns that supposedly weigh only two pounds? The theory is cool but I wonder how the "kickback" feels....
This is true. Kalashnikovs rock.

theres also an interesting variation of this in the manga for Ghost in the Shell. Masamune Shirow has some of the most well thought out mecha designs out there..

Calling the AK series the "greatest gun ever made" is kind of a generalization. The AK was designed to be a weapon that's inexpensive to mass produce, simple to operate (for a largely uneducated army and/or forces without a modern support &logistics network) and due to wide manufacturing tolerances, designed to operate with little maintenance. It's a simple, utilitarian rifle. Not very elegant but it works. It's also not very accurate as a consequence of its design characterics but it was never meant to be a tack driver in the first place.

Its western counterpart, the M16 series, comes from the opposite end of the design spectrum. The M16 series was designed to showcase the latest materials and manufacturing methods from the aeronautical industry (it was the space age 1950s, after all). It was very untraditional, and it was the first design to employ extensive use of plastics and aluminum. Compared to the AK series the M16 can be likened to a precision instrument. It was designed for modern forces with a support network and its end users were expected to perform regular maintenance.

Re: Titanium framed handguns.
Titanium framed handguns are for those who have to carry concealed for long periods (e.g., Quickie Mart cashiers). Yes, felt recoil is increased but that's the tradeoff for decreased weight.

I learned how to fire that shit with precision when i was 9 years old. pops was a militant. That shit used to lift my 75 pound body off the fucking ground everytime i fired it! Scary. Pops would be all "get on top of it, take control of it, aim and squeeze." he would put his foot in my back so that the fucking rifle wouldn't pop me up as much, I was in a laying down firing position. that shit would have me sore for days.

my mother has a .thirty eight that she's pretty happy with, but she's actually complained that she'd like something that holds more than six bullets.

gun laws being what they are, i think it's illegal to have clips that hold more than 10 rounds? or is it 15? not sure.

6 rounds from a .38 is 6 rounds too many to send my ass running as fast as i can run.
