American liberals seem to believe in American myths and lies as much as American conservatives (and probably even more so).

Well, there's the Kennedy worship and the whole "American Camelot" mythos that many of them buy into. Trying to tell them about Bobby Kennedy's union busting and carrying water for Joe McCarthy tends to go nowhere.
Incidentally, though, I've also gotten crap from conservatives for criticizing the Kennedys (or at least Jack and Bobby).

A lot of liberals believe in that "American Dream" nonsense, too.

Maybe we just run in different circles but I haven't heard any lefties talking about the Kennedy's in forever. I do see a lot of people still being in love with Obama, which is strange, but for the most part, the serious lefties I know are disenchanted with him, and criticize Democrats as much as Republicans.
