Mikiko Hara Visits GR2 for a Slide Show and Book Signing
Photographer Mikiko Hara presented a slide show of a collection of her work and spoke about the pieces shows. She prepared statements about what she was showing and outlined her technique which is spans over two decades of work. She uses the pictured camera that's sitting on the table. She wears it like an accessory and shoots without using the viewfinder. She casually observes and records without most subjects knowing.
Her visit to Los Angeles, included other stops, but most notably at the Japan Foundation and at the Getty Museum where she is part of an exhibition of photography called, "In Focus: Tokyo." We will surely see more of her work, and one of the final things she mentioned was her excitement to see what she photographed in Los Angeles, which will hopefully lead to a new exhibition in the future.
