n 1994, two young Angelenos with a passion for punk rock and skateboarding, Eric Nakamuraand Martin Wong, Xeroxed, folded, and stapled together 240 copies of the first issue of Giant Robot. Their zine would tout all that was great but overlooked at the time in Asian American pop culture: Hello Kitty and Japanese candies, Hong Kong action movies and their soundtracks, Pizzicato Five and Jackie Chan.
