We’re not sure if this is a list of mostly almosts, but Kurt Suzuki is a full blooded Asian American in the big leagues. For the most part, the full blooded Asian Americans get fairly close and some have tasted the jewels of the Majors but are often in the minors trying to get back. Yu Darvish  - the player with the one of the strangest names, may be pitching in the US in 2012. He’s a 6 foot 5 inch baseball player who throws hard, has variety, and is one of the best in Japan. He’s half Iranian, half Japanese and once said he’d never leave Japan. But his team is struggling financially, and it might be time for him to really make a move. Teams will line up for his services and they’ll pay the huge amounts to get him. He’s only 25. Asian American baseball players. Here’s part one of two. It’s not the longest list, but it’s only getting better. This is a 2000-2005 version which is missing one of our favorite players, the 420 loving long haired pitcher for the SF Giants. It’s also not complete, but that’s fine, This list has plenty of players we’d have never thought of or heard of. Some don’t have the best stories after their names or if you look at the stats, but that’s often the plight of Asian Americans in sports – it’s feast or famine. Baseball Pioneer Book Published. We swear the Babe is about seven feet tall. This book chronicles the beginnings of Japanese American baseball. Does a lot happen in Arizona? This book was commissioned by numerous organizations and hopefully will one day be a good documentary. Feature film? That’s dangerous. Which non-Asian will get the Zenimura role? “In anticipation of the Arizona centennial in 2012, the new Zenimura biography has been named an official Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission (AHAC).” Congrats to the Babe of Asian America.
