Dave Kiersh was born in 1979.  He is also the creator of Dirtbags, Mallchicks and Motorbikes, his first full color book, which was published in 2009 with the assistance of a Xeric Grant.  Afterschool Special went to print as the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign.  He has been self-publishing his own comics since 1999. Giant Robot was born as a Los Angeles-based magazine about Asian, Asian-American, and new hybrid culture in 1994, but has evolved into a full-service pop culture provider with a shop and gallery in Los Angeles, as well as an online equivalent.
