GR2 Interview: Merging Views – Stasia Burrington

1) Explain about your work area / studio. What about it makes you enjoy working there?

I work in my home studio in Seattle, WA. I’ve claimed the corner with the largest windows, so I have great natural light! I also have a coffee/tea station right behind my work area, to keep me fueled. I have a computer/printer/scanner station, as well as a large fold-out table for when I need more surface area. I most love working at home because I can take lots of breaks and continue to work late at night, with the company of our two little kitties. I’m surrounded by things that inspire me and make me happy.

2) How does it differ from your last working area?

Our last apartment was smaller, darker and further from town. Now it’s so much nicer!

GR2: Merging Views 1/11 – 1/29/14 Reception Sat Jan 11, 6:30-10pm

Merging Views January 11, 2014 – January 29th, 2014 Reception Saturday January 11th, 2014 6:30-10pm Merging Views will be the first exhibition opening at Giant Robot 2 in 2014 and featuring great artists from Los Angeles and beyond: Godeleine de Rosamel, Wayne Johnson, Kwanchai Moriya, Stasia Burrington, Dan McCarthy, and Dan-ah Kim. Each will be featuring their own hand in art, from 40 clay sculptures by childrens book artist, Godeleine de Rosamel, silk screener hero Dan McCarthy, who captures Cape Cod, life long ago and worlds beyond, to painters which range in styles. Wayne Johnson uses oils in a time tested technique that echoes both contemporary and historical works. Kwanchai Moriya works faster and creates pieces based on sci-fi and the fantastic, yet at times captures his local environment. Stasia Burrington mixes an illustration style often using watercolors, and Dan-ah Kim works with whimsical and contemplative images which will add a layer of complexity.
