They’ve arrived and are taking the candy world over. Well, not really, but they did outsell KitKat mini which are popular at least by the ex-pats, by 1.7 times. But here’s the crazy part: “One difference between the export version and the one sold in the U.S. is apparent from comparing labels. The Reese’s sold abroad do not list “TBHQ,” which is shorthand for tertiary butylhydroquinone, a preservative.” (Chicago Tribune – Reese’s)

200 kinds? This is news to us. There’s surely been 30 or so, but 200? We’d like to see a list of the flavors! Anyone have one? A quick search yielded no list. From CNN: “Running with that tonal advantage and tapping into Japan’s love of novelty, Nestlé has produced over 200 special edition flavors of the chocolate bar since 2000, often sold as gifts rather than snacks bought on the go. From wasabi and green tea to flavors specific to regions of Japan (Hokkaido roasted corn flavor, anyone?), Nestle has kept up the innovation to make it a mainstay on the shelves of stores across Japan, even making souvenir editions around holidays and events.”

Some students in Japan play this Pocky game where each puts an end in the mouth and they nibble until they’re super close and either one stops or they end up making out. Of course for the super lonely, there’s a the version of the game where it’s you and a mate that’s a robot. Why is it that there’s always a Japanese high tech version of anything sexual for just a solo being? In this person, it’s a picture with gummy lips. It’s not that you always win, since you’ll end up kissing a piece of paper, but the “robot” will say “thank you.” If you watch the video, you’ll be kissing the paper girl this with other people watching.
