Hiroshi Hoketsu’s age continues to go up like everyone else, but his ability seems to be be the same. He competed in the 1964 Olympics! This isn’t a story about a man who at 71 will be the oldest Olympian, but the story about his dedication and partnership with his horse is as remarkable. His horse was ill, then recovered and they qualified for the Olympics. Talk about Rio in 2016 becomes another story. His horse, Whisper will be 19, and he doubts it would work out. An athlete age 70 qualifies for the Olympics. Yes Hiroshi Hoketsu will be 71 if he decides to compete in London. If he does, he’ll be the second oldest ever and the oldest in the modern era. The previous was a Swedish shooter who at 72 won a silver medal in 1920. You might not hear about his story among the crazy NBA hype, but this is quite extraordinary and he looks great on a horse.
