Giant Robot Store and GR2 News

The contest video explained. First off, I was suffering from food poisoning while this was shot and edited. That was a tough day. But second, the Bigcommerce contest is something I ran across while researching new shopping cart options with Gary Chou (who was in an earlier post or two). He was showing me another system, but then when I poked some holes in it, this one came up and it seemed to be better. This is a web based one that actually seems robust and good for us. We're not a tech company, so using a web based system actually makes sense. We have enough problems trying to upgrade our website with new features, so imagine how hard a cart is to handle? It's tough, that's why we've been using the same system programmed by our friend Aaron for the last decade! He's told us himself, that we should have moved on ages ago, but we haven't. It's just nearly impossible to do. I wouldn't have a clue as to what the first step would be. So this prize will enable us to move and they'll even help us move everything, which is exactly what we need. Yes, it'll change our lives and will give the GR online store some better direction for the future and that's a huge understatement. We'll see what happens. If it doesn't, we'll keep moving on, but we may need your help!

I know Vegas as a place of gimmicks, strange hotels, and too much food. Perhaps these are all gimmicks which then also include gambling, shows, and midwest ladies wearing short skirts. Yet, it can still be fun when the right set of people go. It starts with the fact that there was a huge crew of Goodsmile and Dicokick folks who were on their company vacation. Chihiro chills with Elvis. Here Mr James Jean sings karaoke, Creep by Radiohead. Why did it seem just so right at that moment. Creep! That's Ms Abe, who was into it as well. The theory is that James feels like a Creep when surrounded by certain company.

I don't go to Vegas enough to see the ridiculous things that exist there. I forget that there's these really strange shops that only exist there. A Coke store? Why don't they have these everywhere? You can actually order a soda taster which is a bunch of dixie type cups filled with soda samples from around the world. Would I want this? No, but a lot of people did. I'm not sure why so many people shop at the Coke store in Vegas. Can't you get Coke anywhere? Do you really want a T-shirt, golf bag, cap, or soccer ball from here? I guess people do. I don't get it. We can work our asses off to bring original art, assorted hard to find goods, awesome books and comics, and we even design our own goods, but there's millions of folks more who'd rather have a Coke item.

I like seeing pics like the above. Imagine, we have our friends who are around like Kat and Josh on the left and Luis second from right, then you have Anthony and Derek who are friends of GR, and much less regular. It’s GR friends mixing with gamers and mixing with art fans. That’s my favorite combination right now. This pics sums up Game Night pretty well. The idea of Game Night, Giant Robot, and I’m sure adding Attract Mode, Game Space, and Gaijin Games, is building a community, audience, and a good time – on a Monday night! But there’s more!

Quite impressive, imagine a publication that's an art book, but really isn't. It tells the story in print form of an artist who's travelled, drawn, painted, and more. From small time to big time, and this is just part of his career. Imagine the extras that didn't make it in? I heard he had enough to make a 600 page book. Maybe that's upcoming!
