Giant Robot Store and GR2 News

I appear on TDmonthly (toydirectory.com). It’s video, and there’s tons to read and watch. I freestyled about each product. There’s a bunch of clips. I doubt most can do this about the range of items we carry. Watch Video toydirectory.com

David Lynch photo exhibition at Michael Kohn gallery. Got out to see this a bit. A lot of people were around, it was cool I think. The photos were mixed, decent, sometimes colorful and sometimes funny, sometimes mysterious. A little bit of narrative and context goes a long way. If you want to see these bigger, click on the image. I didn’t shoot a lot of photos. Sometimes, shooting photos in a photo exhibition feels like you’re doing something wrong. The funniest thing, is that in the middle photo, that’s Dave Stone. I see him sometimes in my neighborhood. He’s been in tons of bands and now he’s doing push-ups in David Lynch’s photos. I also updated the flickr just a bit. flickr.

That’s Clement Hanami from JANM and Souther Salazar who’s in the Giant Robot Biennale this year. We were there to case out the space and see how much to carve out for this man. But the Kogi truck happened to be there and Clement hooked us up. The guy behind Souther is wearing some North Carolina Tar Heels Jump Man shorts. I wonder if he can play. We made Toyo Miyatake jokes for a sec. He had to sneak a lens into the camp so he could take a picture of a tree. That’s what Souther said in his deadpan humor. Meanwhile, I wondered in what orifice did the lens fit into? Ok all bad jokes aside, the man is a master. Check out his recent documentary. Toyo’s Camera I saw this for the first time.

Some days, I feel like a Mongol. Throat singing, riding horses in the plains, capturing rival tribe members, traveling with the weather, herding horses, wrestling, and wearing dope hats. I have to eat too, so I hop down to Happy Sheep, where I can get the half not spicy, and half spicy hot pot. I get the lamb of course, the meat of choice when I need energy to do battle. I used to be strong and could handle the spice, but the ring of fire has struck me down and kept me from battle one too many times. I go with the mild. Happy Sheep. Check out these villagers that I shall pillage. Each one has a wallet. I need green sometimes to help the digestion. Shrimp balls help too.

Jim Nakano from the Donutman. Yes, took another trip and ran into him in the parking lot with his strawberries. These are smaller in size, yet they’re super sweet. Although Donutman strawberry donuts are always good, the first thing Jim said was, these are going to be better than last time, and they were. Catch Jim in the AM at the Donutman. He’s the coolest guy. The staff loves GR. Seikoen in Torrance… lovely raw liver. It’s Korean food done in a Japanese setting. That round hole on the piece on the right is a bit freaky, but I ate it anyway. It’s served with a salt, oil, garlic dipping sauce. Tripe and tongue on the far plate. Heart and chicken on the nearer plate. These went on the BBQ. I’d suggest this place.
